For a Friend

6 x6 Oil on Canvas Board Here is a little painting I did at a friend's request of a little spot in Maine from one of their vacations. I find commissions SO stressful, and when I do them for friends...Even more so! Hopefully it reminds her of her special place. So many things starting up with spring finally (?) arriving, and it's giving me such an energetic burst of creativity. Now, for organizing the time. :-) And having some work to show! Spent the evening with an artist friend last week with hubby and all the girls for dinner. It was Su and her husband, who I mention so often, and the girls pretty much worship. Not pretty much, they do. But then I think we all do! She taught them another wonderful technique in her wonderful studio. Celia was wild-eyed the whole time whispering...."this is AWESOME. I love her studio. I love her. How does she DO that". And Claire imagining what it would be like if she lived in Su's house. She was mentally moving in, out loud. I told Su she would have a new resident if Claire had her way. Seeing Su, or any of my artist friends, always reminds of the riches painting has brought me. Not just for my personal fulfillment, but the wonderful, unique, sweet people that the girls and I are so blessed to have met along the way! I feel like their childhood is so enriched by being exposed to such great folks! Til next time, happy spring ;-)
