Retro Phone

6 x 6 Oil on Paper
I am not satisfied with this one...Which is disappointing because when I drew it out I thout it was going to be really cool...I just couldn't get the dial to look right...However I felt I should post it anyway because this journey isn't only filled with successes!
Again a bad picture...My husband owes me a photo session so I can post some decent photos...
I had to put my cat to sleep today....She was 18. I had her for 10 years. Longer than any personal relation ship I have had. Longer than my kids....It was hard and I was full of guilt bringing her but it turned out she had kidney failure and must have been unhappy for some time....That made me feel better, knowing we made the right decision...I sat down to finish this when I got home, but couldn't get my head in it....
I have an art show next week. At the Hall Haskell House in Ipswich...My second time over there this summer...I am very lucky because a very nice lady called and asked me to share the space. There will be a reception on Friday August 22 from 5 - 8pm with food, wine, and of course art and good company!
I may have mentioned that before but wanted to give the details again! Come if you can!

I wouldn't worry about the dial on the phone, Katie May. This painting has a nice energy and is fun and colorful! Yes, you're right, it's about the journey - sometimes when you go on people's blogs and it's post after post of 'perfect' paintings it can be discouraging! But I feel that unless it's rip-upable, at this point, it's useful to show. I don't know I could be wrong. These blogs are not supposed to be pure 'sales' vehicles, but sometimes it feels that way! You go, and keep going, and have wonderful luck at your show!

I love my cats so much.

I like Kelly's comments too, about the sell, sell, sell, voice playing in all of our heads. It really is about the journey although I would love to sell every one!

Katie, I think the phone is a wonderful idea and you executed it well. So sorry about your kitty. We've had to put one cat and several dogs down. Each time it is so, so sad, but we believe it is the humane thing to do. Don't want them to suffer.

Your paintings are charming. I really appreciate the vibrant colors you capture and your eye for recreating in detail and color pattern, especially when you are painting fabric. I'll enjoy watching your blog.
