6x6 Oil on canvas board
This is another one of the same series I was working on. I enjoy these backgrounds so much! Mostly because of the unexpected factor. When I begin working on a background I never know what colors will be used or how it will turn out. Because of that, I never know what the subject or composition will be until I finish the background. Then based on the colors that I end up with I decide what to do.
This isn't my favorite of these, but I think that's because I found red grapes VERY hard to paint. I have no idea why they are called RED. They are every color but red! I did end up painting these redder than the purplish color the real grapes actually were, but I just had to add a little oomph!
I once again had trouble photographing this, which is too bad with these because there is much more depth than photos show.
Snowed in today with three kiddies and a husband! Too bad it's back to normal tomorrow. Although it's more conducive to painting when everyone is gone!

These grapes look nice and juicy... yum! Love all that texture.
Your work is lovely - I scrolled down and I'm reminded of Wayne Thiebaud.

I met you at UU Essex Church ~ art festival a few years ago ~ Do you still want me to keep your blog listed on my blog? hugs and namaste, Carol
Great job painting the grapes ~ look good enough to eat ~ wishing you the best in the day ~ hugs and namaste, cz:)
you've really painted these well, Katy and don't give up. What you're going through is mostly to do with being a mother of young children.
XOXO
