Art Shows?

Ahhh I need help...Does anyone know of a source for finding out about art shows? Anyone who has followed my blog knows I am new! I would love to enter some shows anywhere in the eastern part of Massachusetts (within 3 hours of Ipswich), coastal New Hampshire, or Southern Maine (both Maine and NH are less than 1 hour from here)....Just don't know how to find them!
Thanks for any help!

Katie, In answer to your question about art shows,
Art Calendar is a good source. I also find out about shows by keeping in touch with colleagues and with their websites, blogs, etc. and sometimes even through suppliers. Raymar panels has a good regular competition worth trying, and I am thinking of checking that one out.

Art forums are another source of both general and specific info., like WetCanvas.com (they are currently revamping and sometimes offline, but overall they are the largest forum I know of).

Am enjoying your color sense and your creative compositions, and congrats on the recent sale of three paintings!

And aside from those two venues, I would say... just venture into your local art association and ASK. The artists will know. OK - You just missed North River (Marshfield MA), and South Shore (Cohasset) - but put on your calendar or check on their websites for next year. Check Newton, Rockport, Gloucester, art associations. Ask your instructor. The venues are out there, but start slow - it's a lot of work framing, dropping off, picking up, and it can get to be like a 'job' (albeit a wonderful one!). Actually Art Calendar and Wetcanvas won't help for all the little ones around you that you want to start with. You'll get there, you GO girl!

http://artcompetitionslist.blogspot.com/ Here's an online source. Also, Artist Magazine has listings in the back. Ask local artists what the local opportunities are... usually quite a few. I prefer not to ship paintings, so stay fairly local, myself. There are some online competitions that just want a jpg image and your money. Be sure to really check them out well, first. Thanks, always for your great comments!
