I got this little deck of cards recently that has a little inspirational thing for 30 days....I figured I would post one here from time to time.....This one seemed appropriate since I have been criticizing my last piece...I loved it at first, then of course my critical side kicked in and I have been second guessing it...Ugh I hate that cause I never know if something I do really is bad, or if it is just bad through my eyes....I can never really judge.
Anyway here it is
"Distinctive flaws appear in every work of art. Do not fear blemishes. If you try to eliminate all error, you will never create."

Don't be so hard on yourself - your last painting is VERY good. It conveys a feeling... an atmosphere. That card is right - when you get a chance get to your nearest art museum and take a look at some paintings from some of the masters like Van Gogh and Cezanne and Matisse. Get up close... lots of flaws to pick at if one were looking for them... many brushstrokes we might call imperfect if they were on our painting. Many avoiding proper perspective or perfectly straight lines on purpose. But it doesn't matter - they are not meant to be looked at from inches away. They are meant to convey a feeling and that is why they are masterpieces.
I love inspirational decks... I have some for general life. Can you share the name and author of your art deck?
Katie~
The imperfections in art are where the beauty lives. That very human stroke.~
Katie, I would like to see you do some very loose sketches in paint or what ever medium you like.~ something, that leaves alot of white around it.
I really love your new painting~
