Winter Dunes-Crane Beach, Ipswich

5 x5 Oil on Canvas

What has amazed me about crane beach is that in photos it is often hard to tell what is snow and sand. The sand is so white and smooth any season! I actually added a little more texture in this than I should have. In the photo I had the snow was absolutely smooth. Matt and I love the beacj in the winter. It is our favorite time.....After October they allow horses, so some weekends during the weekend there will be up to 20 horses running along the beach. They are just so beautiful. Literally breath taking! I remember last year there was this huge horse was terrified of the little clams snapping on the beach. It was so funny! Anyway one of the blessings in my life is getting to live near the beach through all the parts of the year that most people don't see! I still and so thankful to be here! Wonder if it will ever really sink in ;-)

You are vrey lucky to live close to the ocean. I am only about an hour away but I always wish I was closer. Always love dune grass poking up through the sand... or snow. Great painting!
