Stuff

I am to start a painting this morn but felt inclined to write about a comment my husband made (with the best intention, I think?). He just got back from Idaho and I was showing him the last painting I did. I told him I was very happy with it and that I felt like I was finally making progress in keeping things loose and not so literal. And he says "yes the cars look very cartooney. Good job". What? I say. Cartooney? Then he realizes maybe that isn't a complement and tried to back track, but of course the damage was done. So now I keep finding myself glancing at it thinkin, "Hmm cartooney".
Poor hubby! But he's home and we missed him so I forgive him ;-)

Definitely not cartoony but I can see how difficult it would be to come up with a word to describe them. I think you said it best when you were aiming for loose. They are are just how they should be, not detailed because they are not the focus of the painting, the skyline is. The cars just define the viewer's perspective. Great point of view and awesome execution. Magical.
