Small Interior

5 x5 Oil on Canvas - SOLD

I did this little painting while I was sitting at the art show last week. I wasn't sure if it was any good, but it sold while it was still wet.
I got a commision as well. For a little painting, but still it is exciting!
My husband and I decided that when the girls go to school in September I should go back to work. With my little one going into Kindergarten and us needing a little extra, it seemed like the only logical thing to do. However it is making me so sad knowing that in just a couple of months I won't have the time to keep up with my painting as much as I have been. I am afraid it will once again become a passion that gets pushed aside until there is time. I know I will still paint but I don't know if it will be as much. It would be my dream to be able to paint as my work, instead of working outside my home. But I guess those things happen to many people!
I suppose I will just have to paint constantly now to make up for it!

Oh, I hear you, Katie May! I had to go to work when my daughter was in school (I think actually she was in 3rd grade), but I just made sure I took a class all the time, and that kept my mind on my art. You'll blink and they'll be older and you'll have time to throw yourself into painting again full time!

Kelley's right. Stay in it by taking a class fairly consistently. You're in a great area (all of the Northeast really) to take advantage of classes with kickin' teachers at Rockport and Gloucester art association. My friend, Diane Panarelli Miller belongs to Rockport Art Assn and frequently does demos there. If you have the kind of energy the young usually have, maybe a night out will be something you'll want to put on your schedule. Being a mama, I wouldn't blame you for just tucking the wee ones in and hitting the couch, but you're getting a good start here and it's so important to have your own bliss.
God luck. You know I'll be here for support :)

Katie May, my heart goes out to you. Your work is a wonderful gift to the world. There is a blog I find inspiring called: sixtyminuteartist.blogspot.com. The man has 4 kids and a day job. Check it out.
