Vintage Fruit Salad-Part II

6 X 6 Oil on Canvas
A lovely lady who came to my art show bought the first "Vintage Fruit Salad", and asked me to make another one similar but with blues. I am afraid this is more color than she wanted, and I am actually questioning my decision to use a yellow plate. I think maybe I should have stuck with white or a pale green...I don't know why I have this obssesion with color sometimes. It really is frustrating because I can't paint without it. Things just don't look right if I subdue things too much, and yet when I do use lots of color I worry that it is too jarring to other viewers! I wish I could see my own work for the first time, and see what my impression of my own stuff would be!

Way to GO, Katie May - I love this one! Sweet with a nice composition - and I do love those Gallery Wrap canvases!

No Katie, I think she is going to love it ! I do ! Trust your instincts, I love all the blue.
Color is exciting, the yellow plate is perfect here. White would have not allowed the blue to "pop" like it does.

I totally understand wanting to see your own art for the first time.Guess that's why with each piece you do , we want to grow change, keep it exciting. Has something to do with growing as an artist.Amy

ah...the inner critic...sigh.
It's beautiful Katie. The colors are perfect. Crisp, clean and summery.

Ditto on Kelly's & Amy's comments. I love this one, yellow plate makes it all work! You have made great strides, improving so fast, you must be so proud of yourself!
Your daughters are beautiful...I used to sew cute shorts for my son at that age. Now he's 20 and a junior in college. Enjoy them at every stage, it goes by way too fast!

This is beautiful and very creative in your use of the gallery wrap canvas. Your paintings have a nice design sense and the use of color is very effective. Nice work!
